In the year 2000, when I was living in Cape town, I was busy putting together the idea and the plans for the thing that would become Urban 1, the first collection of short stories that I edited.

During the time that I was doing this, I met some incredible new people. None of them were more fascinating or have become better friends that the artist Peter Van Straaten.

I don't know what he really calls himself, but to me he is a surreal metaphysicist. A painter of great detail and attention, who loves to juxtapose the ordinary with the extraordinary. his bizarre and playful sense of humour revealing itself in paintings of rare beauty and bizarre titles.

The man has recently updated his website, so I though I'd share some of his work with you here.
